Falling Off The Treadmill

Wednesday, June 28th, 2006

No, I mean metaphorically not literally.

The last week or two at work has been so hectic you wouldn’t believe and with half of my team off sick I’ve been working myself into the ground.

I’ve been exercising - but not as much as usual.

And I’ve been doing my best to eat properly but it’s been tough. I’ve missed meals rather than eat cr*p and I’m suffering for it.

You may have noticed there was no Weekly Update on the weekend. I was so tired I couldn’t find the motivation to do it.

I put on weight (not much, but I still put it on).

I got annoyed as work has had such a negative impact on my challenge over the last week.

I lost motivation and “fell off the treadmill”.

Well now I feel I’m back on again.

I’ve ordered some more supplements and went for a 7 mile jog this morning which is still (hours later) making my legs ache.

But at least “I’m back”.

Yesterday this little site got 45 unique visitors - the highest figure in it’s short history - which is great news.

I will post last weeks Weekly Update in the next few days, then get back to the blog properly with a normal Weekly Update coming as usual on Saturday.

Sorry for the lack of posts over the last week but we *should* now be back to “service as usual”.

Speak to you in a day or two…

    A Difficult Week

    Thursday, June 22nd, 2006

It’s been a tough week so far this week.

Firstly I was away over the weekend and forgot my meal replacement drinks which made it very challenging to try and stick to the Eating For Life principles, and I’ve also had loads of early shifts this week as we’ve got several people off sick which has meant jogging has been a challenge.

I’m still doing my best but we’ll see on Saturday what results we get this week. Hopefully I’ll dip below the 11 stone mark by the weekend but whether it’ll happen is another matter.

New Low Carb Meal Replacement Drinks

      Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

I mentioned recently I was going to switch my meal replacement drinks to the low calorie equivalent.

Well they arrived a few days ago and here’s a quick snap.

They’re pretty tasty and if they help me to lose even more weight I’m up for anything!

        Week 5 Update

        Monday, June 19th, 2006

Apologies for this update being a couple of days late.

I’ve been away over the weekend but all the photos and statistics were taken on Friday as usual so reflect a full week so are fair.

Next week we’re half way through the challenge and while I’m happy with the results in the tables I give you each week my appearance doesn’t seem to be changing much.

A quick look at the photos this week shows virtually no change from last week, though the statistics tell a different story. I’ve had some good “physical” changes over the last few weeks but this week doesn’t live up to expectations for me.

On the other hand I had a business meeting this week where lunch was definately not BFL food though I did my best to select the healthiest option.

Exercise wise I’m already growing accustomed to the new increase in weights I’m using and and whilst some of the exercises are definately hitting a “10″, others aren’t.

Therefore, to keep “pushing the limit” I shall be investing in some new, heavier weights in the next week or two and upping the weights I’m using as a result.

Probably the hardest exercise remains my triceps exercises at the moment, whilst the others are going very nicely indeed in my opinion.

As my body is getting used to jogging and it seems far less of a strain now (I actually enjoy it) plus the fact that my ankles don’t seem to be getting sore even after a 30min+ jog, and the fact that I want to achieve the very best result possible by week 12 I’m upping the bar on my cardio again - this week - by going jogging as many mornings as possible - not just the standard 3 times a week.

        3, 4, 5, 6 whatever I can manage.

Now I don’t intend jogging when I’m on an early shift at work and have to start by 7, but any other time I’ll be off for a jog.

I went Sunday, today was an early, I’m expecting to go Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

        That’s right, Saturday.

I’m only eating one bad meal a week now, rather than having a whole day off - and I’m not having any problems with it so we’ll keep on pushing… How many times have I “upped the bar” already in the 5 short weeks of the challenge so far?! :-)

        OK, statistics…

Category This Week Last Week Change
        Weight (kg)  70.7 71.3  -0.6kg
        Weigh (Stone)  11st 0 11st 3  -3lb

        Biceps  12.75″  12.75″  No change

          New Fat Loss Tablets

          Friday, June 16th, 2006

In an attempt to speed up my fat loss, having just finished my Body For Life Everlean tablets I have decided to switch and try another EAS supplement called “Thermo DynamX”.

          Fat Loss Pills

Comparing the ingredients they seem rather similar in makeup though the new tablets cost several times what the old ones did.

Here’s a comparison (per recommended dose):

          Ingredient Everlean Thermo DynamX
          Guarana (22% caffeine) 467mg 700mg
          Cayenne Pepper 333mg 500mg
          Green Tea 226mg 340mg
          Caffeine (total) 133mg 200mg
          Cocoa 89mg 133mg
          Ginger 67mg 100mg
          White Tea 33mg 50mg
          Oolong Tea 33mg 50mg

As you can see the ingredients are essentially indentical except that with Thermo DynamX you get more - because they recommend you take 3 tablets, whilst you only take 2 of Everlean, twice a day.

The Everlean contains 40 capsules (20 doses or 10 days of supply as two tablets are taken twice a day).

The Thermo DynamX contains 120 capsules (40 doses or 20 days supply as three tablets are taken twice a day).

The Everlean cost me £7.99 whilst the Thermo DynamX cost me £23.99.

On a pro rata basis Everlean costs 80p a day, whilst Thermo DynamX costs £1.20 a day which, due to it’s increased potency, could well be worth it.

We’ll have to wait and see what results I get but at least I won’t have to order again for a few weeks!
