The Weigh We Were Review

Monday, April 7th, 2008

The Weigh We Were (get the pun?) bills itself as the largest collection of personal weight loss stories on the Internet.

It’s a hugely professional blog and is one of the best I have seen so far. Chock-full of fascinating articles I strongly recommend it as a source of inspiration whenever you need it. In addition, if it’s preferable for you, there are videos present which makes it even easier to get excited about the possibilities of getting into shape.

As well as literally hundreds of stories of real-life weight loss stories the site contains a blog directory of personal blogs (which I have just added this site to) so provides yet more useful information.

Lastly there is a very decent, spam-free forum where you can discuss every aspect of weight loss.

This could well be the best weight loss I’ve ever seen and I shall be spending quite a bit of time over there now I have discovered it!

Motivation To Keep You On The Straight And Narrow

    Monday, March 3rd, 2008

We’ve talked in the past about the importance of motivating yourself when you’re on a weight loss plan and one of the best ways (after seeing how much weight you have lost yourself) is to see what other people have achieved.

This article at Refridgerator Raid lists 6 excellent case studies including one guy who went from 312 pounds to 184 pounds.

      Friday, November 23rd, 2007

Do a search in Google for Body For Life or Body For Life Blog and no doubt wherever you are in the world this blog will come up one of the top. Where I’m sitting we’re currently an enviable position number 4 in Google for the term Body For Life and number 4 in Google for the phrase Body For Life Blog (of course, these results change all the time).

However this isn’t of course the only Body For Life blog.

I’d love it if you spent some time here, joined the RSS feed, bookmarked us as a favorite and became a regular here like thousands of other readers each month but while we’re on the topic, allow me to introduce you to some other excellent Body For Life blogs you really should check out:

        Merely Flawed Review

        Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

Merely Flawed is a relatively new (the archives start in June 2007) but regularly updated fitness blog run by Isobel, a 22 year old college student from California. Don’t let Isobel’s young age put you off though.

        Merely Flawed

The blog is a treat to visit and focuses on short, snappy articles and celebrity reviews. These celebrity reviews aren’t the standard “junk” but in many cases take a look at the fitness regimes that celebrities use. Due to this they can make fascinating reading with various well-known faces (and bodies!) talking about what they do to look so great.

It’s an attractively designed, easy to read site and whilst I visited the site primarily to review it I ended up spending quite a bit of time there reading through articles for my own interest and pleasure and I’m sure you’ll find a similar thing.

There is also a forum present though it at present has next to no posts. Also attractively laid-out I think this forum will be well worth a visit when visitor numbers increase - and possibly Isobel could mention it on the main page of her blog to attract extra contributors rather than just displaying it on subsequent pages as it is at the moment.

        Well worth a visit.

          My Fitness Pal Review

          Friday, October 5th, 2007

My Fitness Pal is a new website offering a huge range of free health and fitness services.

As soon as I visited the site I liked it. It’s attractive and easy to use.

There’s also a lot going on there.

In the “Tools” section, for example, you can add a button onto your blog or website if you’re a fitness nut like me letting people know how much weight you still have to lose. As you lose weight and report it back to your account (which includes a useful food diary) the button automatically changes to give the right amount of weight still needing to be lost.

You can also calculate your BMR and BMI to help work out calories required each day and your ideal weight from a health point of view. There is also a useful free calorie counter on the site so you can work out how many calories you have consumed.

The fitness section allows you to specify your weight, the exercise you did and how long you did it for to estimate how many calories you burned off.

The site also claims to create you a personalized diet profile by entering in a few basic details about yourself.

So it seems this site has all the bases covered to enable you to get a fairly decent understanding of where you are, where you need to be and your progress along the way.

Coupled with a regularly updated blog and a discussion forum I think this new free site is well worth a visit and will quickly become an essential destination for those who want to get in shape.
